The immediate past Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State Chapter, Comrade Oladele John Nihi has urged the newly elected Chairman who will be succeeding him to build on the successes he achieved in office and learn from the mistakes he made during his reign.
Nihi made this statement in Lokoja the Kogi State capital in his congratulatory message to Comrade Alonge Israel Femi, the newly elected Chairman of the Youth Council in the state.
“Let me on behalf of my family sincerely congratulate you my brother and friend of over 15years on your election as my successor sequel to my resignation as Chairman, Kogi State Youths. Your election no doubt is a welcome development and a win win situation for me as a person”
“As you assume office, be sure to build on the successes achieved during my brief period as Chairman and learn from my mistakes. If you follow all the advice I gave you privately, I can assure you, all will be well with you. Do not be carried away by your victory today, be careful of sycophants and people that will come as friends but deep down their mind, if they have their way, they do never would have wish you this victory. Remember, success has so many brothers and sisters while failure is an orphan.”
“Let the constitution be your guide and pay attention to details. It is good to assist or help but no matter what or how close anyone is to you, do not go out of your way to help. Respect your executives and leaders of the Council but never allow emotions overwhelm you to go outside the constitution to assist anyone. Treat everyone equally and never relent in your support for the New Direction Government of His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello. When they tell you to stop using the Council to support government, tell them you have heard but support the government more than ever before. My brother, don’t let anyone mislead you, he who makes can also remove you.”
Comrade Nihi thanked the
Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello and Hon. Edward Onoja for their support for the Council under my leadership. He also thanked his executives for the support and cooperation he enjoyed during his time.
