…. TRAINS OFFICIALS ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Kogi Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA, said its human development programs are geared towards reducing poverty in the State, expecially at the rural communities.

General Manager of the agency, Mallam Momoh Dauda started this on Tuesday at the one day capacity training of Local government officials from 7 LGAs of the State on Community Development Plan.

Mallam Dauda said the training underscored the importance of the agency’s mandate at eradicating poverty especially at the grassroots.

According to him, “The mandate of the agency is to reduce poverty by increasing access of the poor people to human development services on a sustainable basis. We tend to achieve this through the community driven development strategy (CDD) that is through the empowerment of community.

“The local government is very strategic and indispensable for us to achieve the objective of the community and Social development project (CSDP). This underscored the need to continue to build the capacity and competences of the local government for them to be able to live up to their responsibility.”

The General Manager urged participants at the workshop to take seriously the training said, they are important to the implementation of projects that will reduce poverty in the state.

“This training: Community Development Plan (CDP)/Group Development Plan (GDP) facilitation is to equip you with the basic skills and competence to be able to facilitate the process of CDP/GDP formulation.”

Dauda however said the agency has reduced their intervention in the state to only seven council areas; which he averred were picked from the Poverty Map of the State.
